UNESCO Creative Cities Thailand @PHETCHABURI

On May 22, 2026, at 6:30 PM, at the King Mongkut Memorial Park, Phra Nakhon Khiri, Phetchaburi Province, Ms. Wanpen Mangsri, Deputy Governor of Phetchaburi Province, presided over the official opening ceremony of the UNESCO Creative Cities Thailand @PHETCHABURI event. Also in attendance were Mr. Apichai Chat Chalermkit, Deputy Governor for Domestic Marketing, Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Mr. Pakaphat Songwattanayuth, Deputy Governor of Phetchaburi Province, along with heads of government agencies, representatives from the private sector, and tourists

This event, scheduled to take place from May 22-24, 2026, celebrates Phetchaburi's inclusion as a member of the UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy network since 2021, and aims to further promote the province's potential as an international destination for food and culture
.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is focusing on a shift from quantitative to qualitative tourism, leveraging Phetchaburi's unique charm and integrating gastronomy tourism as a key mechanism to attract tourists and distribute income to local communities. This initiative offers visitors the opportunity to experience the cultural roots of Phetchaburi through local ingredients and culinary skills passed down through generations

  The event featured four main activity zones designed to foster creativity: 
     Performance stage zone: Featuring music from local artists, cooking demonstrations by local chefs, and the " The Taste of Phrib Phri" cooking competition.
     Food and Beverage Zone: Featuring a collection of signature dishes made with local ingredients and delicious Phetchaburi cuisine for attendees to enjoy.
     Exhibition Zone: Presents the stories and ideas of the UNESCO Creative Cities network in various dimensions.
     Workshop Zone :    An area for inspiration and further development of culinary wisdom, using three local flavors – sour, salty, and sweet – to create products and souvenirs

The UNESCO Creative Cities Thailand @PHETCHABURI event marks a significant step in fostering local pride and driving sustainability in economic, social, and environmental aspects, reinforcing Phetchaburi's position as a truly world-class destination for food lovers
